Maarten Scholten

After obtaining his law degree at the University of Amsterdam (The Netherlands), Mr. Scholten started his career as an attorney at the Amsterdam and New York offices of Loeff & van der Ploeg, currently part of Allen & Overy. In 1986, Maarten joined Schlumberger Ltd. at its legal department and became Director of Legal Services in 1999. He subsequently held positions as Controller Schlumberger Oilfield Services, President of Schlumberger Oilfield Services Europe, Africa and CIS and finally Director of Mergers and Acquisitions. From 2006 until 2009, Maarten co-founded Delta Hydrocarbons SA, a US$ 1.1B Oil and Gas investment firm. He left this company at the end of 2009. In January 2013 until 2013, Maarten acted as an advisor and an investor in a wide range businesses in the energy, private healthcare and education sectors. After that period, he held the position of Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Total SA in Paris (France) from 2013 to early 2017. Mr. Scholten currently holds several non-executive board memberships, notably at BW Offshore SA, LSP Advisory BV, Ayursundra BV, Ziksana Learning Solutions BV and RT Safe Ltd. In addition, he acts as advisor and investor in a number of early stage companies in the energy and healthcare sector. His expertise combines legal and business knowledge.
