Our CEO, Berno Maaswinkel, will be stepping down as he faces personal circumstances that make it difficult for him to devote the time and energy the role requires. As the CEO role demands full energy and commitment, the decision was made not to extend his contract. We are immensely grateful for his leadership and all the contributions he has made to advance our mission, and we wish him and his family all the best.
In light of this, we’re happy to share that prof. dr. Rob Collin, our co-founder, will step in as interim CEO. Rob has shared Astherna’s vision from its beginning, and his passion will help keep us moving forward with purpose and strength. We’re also excited to announce that dr. Melita Kaltak will be stepping into the role of Chief Scientific Officer. Melita’s dedication and expertise will be key in driving our research and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible as we continue our fight against blindness.
We deeply appreciate all the support from our community, and we’re excited about what lies ahead. Together, we’re making meaningful strides toward a world where no one has to face blindness.
